Long before the 17th century, the first innkeeper families were already brewing beer here and the first beer cellars were created – the beginnings of a tradition that reaches into the 21st century.
The industry that shaped Erlangen's cityscape developed in the heart of the old town, the brewing centre. Today, the (probably) world's only brewery that brews inside a hill, stores inside the hill and serves its beer directly from the hill exists in "Erlanka"!
Beer in Erlangen is more than a drink, it's the DNA of the City – it is an expression of community, joy and Franconian way of life.
Local breweries offer unique beer specialities –
from cellar beer to seasonal rarities such as "Enno", the "Goldblondchen" or the "Bergkirchweih beer".
Don't miss the unique taste of Erlangen. Catch the spirit of the modern tradition!

The visible and hidden monuments and buildings on and around the Burgberg are visited and filled with historical knowledge. There is more to discover here than beer cellars, the Platenhäuschen and the sculpture garden.
